Wedding Favours & “CONFETTI”
Wedding favours are little tokens of appreciation for your guests, and in Italy, they come with a sweet twist. No, “CONFETTI” isn’t the paper you throw around (sorry, party people)—it’s what we in England call sugared almonds. Traditionally, you’ll find five of them, symbolising happiness, health, wealth, fertility, and long life. Typically white for weddings, they now come in flavours like chocolate, lemon, pistachio, coffee, and of course, almond.
Wedding Breakfast
For the Italians in the room, don’t panic — it’s not espresso and cornetto time! In the UK, the “wedding breakfast” isn’t breakfast food but the first meal newlyweds share. Historically, couples fasted before the ceremony (don’t worry, we won’t do that!), making this their first feast together. It’s a tradition full of love, symbolising the start of their marriage and the many meals they’ll share as a couple.
Rum Cake and Rum – YAH MAN!
No Caribbean wedding is complete without a nice Caribbean Rum cake. This will bring Caribbean flavour to your wedding reception. Rum cake symbolises unity, celebration, and family coming together. Believe it or not this cake is derived from English Plum Pudding, this cake’s secret is fruit soaked in rum before baking.
